KD Painting is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the community for over two decades. Our story began when our founder, Kristopher Dorn, developed a passion for hands-on work by working for his father, a residential general contractor. For five years, Kristopher worked for his father during the summers, learning the importance of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School, Kristopher went on to attend St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. Later, he attended the University of Minnesota, completing his undergraduate coursework for a Master of Architecture degree. This education provided a strong foundation for his future endeavors in the painting industry.
Kristopher's father passed away in 1995, marking the end of Kenneth C. Dorn Construction, but also the beginning of his own painting career. In the summer of 1996, Kristopher, along with a friend, started a house painting business called RK Painting, where they painted many homes for three summers. Between 1999 and 2002, Kristopher worked for J & J Painting. Finally, in May 2002, KD Painting was officially established.
